Love this newcomer La Belle Échoppe. Simple, beautiful, well made goods with a history and an interesting approach, born from the collaboration between FrenchTrotters and redingote.
Inspired by “Qualités de vie, objets des valeurs quotidienne” from 1991, a book about what’s beautiful and well made, and what was important in people’s life’s at that time, they made a nice curated selection of products, entirely dedicated to “made in France”. My favorites are definitely this grey Desert Boot with recycled rubber sole, made in Lower Normandy by Eimpreinte and the Eau de Cologne à la Française by Institut Très Bien.

A lovely new fragmented candle by Byredo: The Tree House. The smell is poetic, with a top of pimento and bamboo, a mid of hay, labdanum and myrrh and a base of blond cedarwood, guaiac wood, sandalwood and leather.
Specially  created for Byredo’s Japan launch at Adam et Ropé Biotop, Tokyo. The store’s courtyard houses a Takashi Kobayashi tree house in a grand camphor tree which has been there since the store opened over 20 years ago. Because of their constant exposure to rain and the fact that most tree houses are built with scraps of various woods they all smell quite unique. This tree house became a very visual reference for the candle. It was also based on the idea of Japanese woods, which is a theme that flows throughout Biotop.

Shigenobu Twilight is a hand-distilled fragrance in hand cut cedar wooden bottles by the New York based artist and architect Anicka Yi & Maggie Peng. The scent uses three different kinds of cedar wood as its base note, along with violet leaf and nutty heart notes, and top notes of yuzu, shiso leaf, and black pepper. Available at Ooga Booga >

Just got this lovely christmas gift from Tenue de Nîmes; The new fragrance by Byredo – Baudelaire.
