The sum of details
February 26

Louis Vuitton changed their communication from showing old and erstwhile world leaders on their way down the road into telling the story of the high-end craftsman and the beauty of the details.
I saw the sneak preview of the images, shot by Desiree Dolron, a few months ago and I instantly fell in love with the brand.
Above image is the sewing of the leather with a beeswax thread to protect the stitchings overtime. Louis Vuitton: The sum of details beautifully captured by Desiree Dolron! For more images Read the rest of this entry »

Nigel Cabourn
February 25

In December 2009 we did an interview with Nigel Cabourn in Amsterdam. Nigel was asked to present his inspiration for the new Spring-Summer 2010 collection. “The Spring/Summer 2010 Collection BURMA is inspired by the contents of Nigel’s Father’s army handbook. He used this as a diary during his time in India and Burma between 1942 and 1945″. Tenue de Nîmes selected some of the finest styles this spring although we could have bought it all. Read More >

Denim Legends
February 23

Denim Legends is one of these books I thought I wont buy because it’s good, but not worth the full 800 euro’s. So I’m very happy to see that the best part of it, the first half of the book which is filled with the vintage stuff before 1980, is shot by one photographer, Michael Wells, who shared it online in his portfolio. Well, not everything, but enough for me to re-consider buying the book anyway…

Transit Elite
February 21

Two of our favorite brands teamed up to create a special Transit Elite Sweater in Nepal. Rapha & Apolis Activism. ‘Luckily enough, Shea Parton of Apolis Activism and Cole Maness of Rapha were able to cycle these mountains, and it’s inspiring to see that they were able to capture the sights and sounds of the area by doing the things they’re passionate about.’ Lovely!!

Package
February 16

Not new, but happy AnOther/Loves shared it again. We very much love this art project by Konstantin Grcic. Package is a stack of 2000 Din A4 sheets of plain white paper wrapped in pink craft paper with this quote by Charles Eames printed on the face of the package.

“What you do really with paper can never quite come up to with what the paper offers. It’s something about that broken package, in the way carton is torn, sort of invites you to come in. There’s something about taking out that first sheet, that sort of changes that thing.” — Charles Eames, the Charles Eliot Norton Lectures, 1971.

Sailors
February 13

After one day at Premier Vision, Paris, inspired by fabulous fabrics and a great talk with our new partner in crime at Tenue de Nîmes Private Label Adriana Galijasevic we can say a few things about what we think is coming our way in the next 1,5 year.
Expect sailor inspired garments, overwhelming prints, inspired by Japan and Italy, extreme colorful pattern printed fabrics, synthetic, natural, soft colors in green and blue, turquoise… All light, uncluttered, unconcerned cuts, materials and colors. We’re looking forward to it!

Safe return doubtful
February 12

“Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful. Honour and recognition in event of success.”

Ernest Shackleton, Antarctic explorer (1874-1922)

Shop Update
February 11

SOME/THINGS Magazine Nº 1 is a beautiful publication by Monika Bielskyte with work of Roger Ballen, Zhang Huan, Antoine D’agata, Boris Bidjan Saberi, Lina Scheynius and much, much more… It is a 300 pages black and white/full colour heavy wight book packed with a certain dark feeling in all the work published. We are very proud to announce that, beside Colette in Paris, the Acne stores around Europe, Photographers Gallery in London, Rick Owens in NY and Japan, the magazine is available at Anothershop.
And another update in the shop is the lovely book by Merijn Hos – The Marigolds. Enjoy!
